Emergency Hormonal Contraception or ‘the morning after pill’ and Chlamydia Service

Accessible and confidential

Emergency contraception can prevent pregnancy after unprotected sex or if your contraceptive method has failed, for example a condom has split or you've missed a pill.

We provide friendly and confidential sexual health services to young people. Emergency hormonal contraception (Levonorgestrel) can be received for free by using our NHS supported service if you are aged between 14 and 20 years old. Alternatively, it can also be bought over the counter after we have asked some questions to ensure that it is safe for you to use. Levonorgestrel (Levonelle®) can be received up to 72 hours after having unprotected intercourse.

Ullipristal (EllaOne®) is a method of emergency hormonal contraception that can be used up to 5 days after unprotected intercourse, and can be obtained from your GP or by using our Private Prescribing service in the pharmacy.
